Michael Jackson is undoubtedly one of the best musicians to ever live. His untimely passing left a void in the music industry, however because his talent was so big, many people look past the incredible style Mike had on both a day-to-day basis and while on stage.
Of course, we all know the red leather jacket from Thriller or the socks, loafers and glove when he premiered the Moonwalk, but what about everything else? Like many of today’s top performers, Mike rarely wore the same thing twice – and nothing was cheap.
Comprised mostly of custom pieces from different fashion houses, to just one-offs created for Mike and no one else, the collection of clothing is largely due to the ingenuity of Michael’s stylist and costume designer of 25 years, Michael Bush. He and his late partner Dennis Tompkins are responsible for 100 percent of what you saw Michael wearing throughout the years. Whether it was good, bad, or ugly, it’s all been documented in the new book The King of Style: Dressing Michael Jackson.
The book not only has pictures of Michael’s clothing, but drawings and explanations behind them as well. You can take a look in the gallery above for a few images from the book, available now for $45.
