Meek Milly has been on fire since he first put it down with Rozay on “Ima Boss.”

Once upon a rhyme ago, Meek’s boss, Ross, really found his groove when he did that R&B collabo with John Legend, “Magnificent.” Looks like Mill decided to use the same formula as he recruits Legend to sing a memorable hook on his latest single, “Maybach Curtains.” It features a great 16-bar cameo from Nas and of course Rick “Every Maybach Song Has To Have Me On It” Ross. The song is a great “I’ve made it through adversity” record, but I’m not sure if it will get a fair shot in the mainstream. Still, it’s another great record for Meek and one you should definitely peep.

Like it, love It or hate It, the Chicago hip-hop movement, at least the street portion, is growing on the hip-hop world like a fungus. Chief Keef sorta kicked in the door for his GBE movement and up next is Lil Reese. “Traffic” is his official first single and the latest street banger, which features fellow 3hunna boss Sosa Baby himself Chief Keef. You won’t hear this on the radio, but so what!  You won’t need to. In NYC I’ve heard this record banging out of cars from Bay Ridge to Harlem to uptown Co-Op City. We all know the rest of the world drives more than New Yorkers so you can only imagine. Traffic is that street ignorance you love to hate from the new school next generation of rappers, like it or not. By the way, as always, Young Chop’s on the beat with another classic!

Man, what happened to CyHi the Prince? With the explosion of 2 ChainzandBig Seanwe almost forgot…ah yes Cy re-appeared this week with what appears to be one of the dopest, illest, most musical protest I’ve heard in a long while. The track is called “James Harden,” after The Oklahoma City Thunder NBA 6th Man of the year award winner. It’s Cy’s musical take on being good enough, like Harden to be a starter on his team — his team being G.O.O.D. Music. But like Harden, Cy remains a role player for the crew whose patiently waiting to get his. I feel him…

Who said A$AP Rocky ain’t had a hit yet? Well this new record “F*ckin Problem” has a chance to really heat sh*t up this cold winner. Mr Freshly 2 Cool Rocky recruits Kendrick Lamar, Drake and 2 Chainz on his latest ode to the baddest girls he likes. With the right radio mix and a great look in the clubs this promises to be a smash with Rocky’s following. If you haven’t been to an A$AP Rocky show it’s like M.O.P. meets Red & Meth, pure high level energy with plenty of weed smoke. This is an excellent follow up to “Goldie.” “F*ckin Problem” should be just that.

OMG…will we ever hear another R&B record from Ne-Yo? After hearing his latest release, “Forever Now” it’s apparent that the big pop money is too hard to front on. For the record, I’m not mad at Ne Yo. The R&B lane is cluttered with singers who really want to rap and aside from a few very talented individuals, like Miguel, most of it sounds similar. But Ne-Yo blazed his trail back in the early 2000’s, and now it’s Calvin Harris or bust status for him. “Forever Now” is a great record that will surly garner awards, commercials and most importantly chart positions. The 4th Quarter of the music biz is officially underway…

Until we read again…
