Meek Mill has been readying his debut album for some time now, but as his release date nears, Meek decided to share a few tidbits with XXL’s Editor At Large, Shaheem Reid, to break down the meaning of the second song on his album, “In God We Trust.”

Meek Mill breaks down the meaning of “In God We Trust,” stating:
“It’s about how we survive in the streets, in God we trust. I’ve seen a lot guys go to war…I just wanted to give people that one street joint that nobody is giving out anymore.”
Meek Mill elaborates with a few bars from “In God We Trust,” spitting, “n*ggas sh*ttin out them packs just to take them pills/and his baby mama brought him in/man, this sh*t is real.”
Meek Mill’s debut album, Dreams and Nightmares, is set to be released on October 30.
