Rita Ora has had a year of immeasurable fame, moving into the spotlight as one of the breakout stars of 2012. Although she’s traveled the world, one thing Rita just can’t seem to escape is the comparison to fellow Roc Nation artist Rihanna. And just as anyone else would be, Rita is finally over it.

The 22-year-old UK native snagged what seems like her hundredth magazine cover for the year on the January Issue of Glamour UK.

Rita is featured in a playful pose, donning a Christian Dior dress, but in the corresponding article, she gets a lot more serious about her career and those pesky comparisons to Rihanna.

On her budding music career:

“It’s been an amazing few months. I feel like a gangster—like the Don in a Mafia flick… From the outside it can look as though everything happened overnight for me, but when it did start happening, it happened very quickly.”

On her new found fame:

“This girl came up and said ‘Rita – I love you song,’ and it felt so good. That was the best Big Mac I’ve ever eaten. Now I get recognized a lot more, but that’s OK. In fact, it’s great.”

On getting compared to Rihanna:

“It’s just so unnecessary. The most unnecessary thing I’ve ever heard, actually. I mean, last time I checked, I’ve been blonde since I was 14 years old. My inspiration has always been from old-school, classic women, so I don’t take any notice of that.”

On meeting Rihanna:

“She’s fun to hang out with. Don’t get me wrong: I see nothing but great times, but I think it’s time to move on now.”

Whoop, there that is. Does she mean it’s time to move on from forging a friendship with Rihanna, or simply move on from asking about her? That can be taken so many ways!

Rita had nothing but songs of praise for her boss man’s wife Beyonce.

”She was my idol and suddenly there we were, sitting down together. She was the nicest, gentlest, most humble woman. There’s something really calming about talking to her. She gave me the best piece of advice anyone’s ever given me about this job – ‘Keep your family close.’”
