DETAILS: Say What?! NYPD Spent 1 Million Hours Making 440,000 Marijuana Arrest Over Last Decade

During an interview on Sunday, politician Rand Paul announced that he is not in favor of the legalization of marijuana, but believes the sentences of those who are caught with the drug should be significantly reduced.

Paul tells Fox News, “I don’t want to promote that but I also don’t want to put people in jail who make the mistake. There are a lot of young people who do this and later on in their 20s, they grow up and get married and quit dong things like this. I don’t want to put them in jail and ruin their lives.”

Paul claims he is working on legislation with senator Patrick Leahy for “mandatory minimums,” as he expressed his disappointment in people being granted decades worth of jail time for non-violent crimes.

Paul may not support the marijuana habit, but he doesn’t want to ruin futures for a past addiction. Paul used George W. Bush and President Barack Obama‘s past drug use to support his claims.

“Look, the two presidents could conceivable have been put in jail for their drug use, and I really think, you know, look what would have happened, it would have ruined their lives,” Paul continued.

We couldn’t imagine a world without the amazing President Barack Obama so Paul…… SALUTE!
