Ever wondered what the TSA does with the confiscated items they get from airplane passengers? Why Instagram them, of course!

Launched in June 2012, the TSA Instagram has been snapping pics of the many different, potentially dangerous items that people have tried to take on board. In its very first post that had a picture of brass knuckles and fireworks, they didn’t hesitate to deliver some heavy duty hashtags.

It was captioned:

“#Fireworks don’t fly. (On planes) #july4 #travel #instatsa #firstpost #aviation.”

There are also many pictures of potential deadly weapons:

Other shots include a variety of intimidating-looking knives (including several designed for throwing), handguns, a stun gun designed to look like a pack of cigarettes, and — inexplicably — an inert grenade.

Though very entertaining to look at, many are wondering what the real reason behind this account is. Some believe the account is simply a PR move to show the TSA in a better light, being that it’s been getting a great deal of criticism lately

So the next time you go to the airport and see TSA members snapping pics of your stuff, don’t worry at all. Your items might just become the next internet sensation!
