Helloooooo Global Grind!
It’s been a minute! I’ve been experimenting and I figured something out: if you love music like I love music- being a DJ makes a lot of sense! I started out as a DJ when I was 15 but I put my turntables aside to see what all the fuss was about in other lanes of this game.
What I’ve realized is that nothing makes me happier than playing great music for people. Don’t get me wrong- hosting shows is a good time, being an A&R has it’s moments and life as an actor is pretty dope too but when I got back on the turntables last week it felt like I was back home.
Now I’m getting ready for my first DJ gig since 1999!!! I’m shaking off the rust, getting familiar with the technological advances like Serato and putting together my set. My gig is next Monday night so the turntables you see in that picture will be getting A LOT of practice for the next 4 days! I’m keeping my set to 40 minutes and leaving most of the night in Sky Nellor’s hands cause it takes a lot more work than people think to put together a dope DJ set and I want to take my time to make something really special.
