Old McDonald had a farm.  E I E I…NO!

From an early age we are duped to think that our food comes from a kindly old farmer on a nice sunny farm where animals run free and happy.  NOT!  The truth is that 90% of the meat, eggs and dairy in your grocery store comes from animals that have suffered on factory farms.

We are enamored at the cuteness of a yellow fluffy baby chick.  Yet when people are ready to chow down on an omelette or a big plate of hot wings, the concern for the welfare of that chic-a-dee goes out the window.

I’ve heard the argument…God put animals on the earth for food.  BUT!  God don’t like UGLY, and factory farms are extremely inhumane and cruel to animals.  This is the UGLY side of where your eggs come from.

Animals are living, feeling beings and have a right to be treated humanely.  Animals DO feel pain. Laying hens are crammed three to a cage where they can barely move.  They live in their own feces for their entire lives. These living beings never see the sun and never step one foot onto a blade of grass as they are kept in warehouses.  Living in this filthy environment, naturally hens get sick and eggs get contaminated because of the unsanitary conditions.  Imagine you and two of your closest friends living in a small bedroom closet…in your own poop… for your entire lives.  None of us would stand for that, and we know it’s not right.  So why do we subject animals to these conditions?

Is this how God INTENDED man to treat helpless animals?  NO!  Hens by the billions have to suffer in these horrific conditions.  Then of course the consequences will trickle down to humans in the form of disease from contaminated eggs.  Well… change the conditions of HOW the hens are kept.  Raise the birds naturally…the way God intended.

Luckily there is a proven more humane choice to raise laying hens.  FRRE RANGE/CAGE FREE!  PERIOD!  Allow the hens to roam on a few acres of land where they can groom, socialize, enjoy the sun and carry on the natural habits that hens do. The eggs will still be collectable.  And…relaxed, less stressed hens lay better eggs.

I only buy Free Range/Cage Free eggs.  I won’t be a part of t
