As I walked into the auditorium of my school for an afternoon movie, I did not know that what I was about to see would change my heart forever. I  heard about kids having HIV/AIDS but I never saw it with my own eyes. Dr.HIllkirk announced that his sister  Patty Hillkirk  was here to talk about children living with HIV/AIDS . I later found out that she is the Executive Director of Camp Dreamcatcher. For one week in August, children ages 5 -17 attend the camp. The children coming to camp may be coping with the HIV/AIDS infection of a family member, the death of one or both parents, or their own HIV/AIDS infection. The purpose of Camp Dreamcatcher is to provide children whose lives have been touched by HIV/AIDS with a chance to get away from home for a week and have fun! Not only do the children have fun but they have access to medicine and 260 counselors. The service is free to the children that attend.  The United Way of Southern Chester County, corporations, individuals and fundraising events finances the camp.
