Hall was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma some time ago but kept the news secret from fans. “I feel fortunate to have been diagnosed with an imminently treatable and curable condition, and I thank my doctors and nurses for their expertise and care,” Hall said in a statement. His spokesman added that Hall’s cancer, which affects the lymphatic system, is in complete remission. The actor plans to attend Sunday’s Golden Globe awards, where he has a best dramatic actor nomination for his role in Dexter as a Miami police blood splatter analyst who secretly moonlights as a serial killer. The show is also shortlisted for best television drama. Hall will begin work on a fifth series of Dexter later this year. He met his wife, fellow actress Jennifer Carpenter, on the set of Dexter. She plays his sister on the show. His other roles include David Fisher in Six Feet Under. Explaining the popularity of Dexter – and the challenge of making a serial killer sympathetic to audiences – Hall has said: “What attracted me to Dexter was the moral ambiguity. Also, the challenge of breathing life into someone who claims to be without the capacity for authentic human emotion is fun.”

“I feel fortunate to have been diagnosed with an imminently treatable and curable condition, and I thank my doctors and nurses for their expertise and care,” Hall said in a statement.

The actor plans to attend Sunday’s Golden Globe awards, where he has a best dramatic actor nomination for his role in Dexter as a Miami police blood splatter analyst who secretly moonlights as a serial killer.
