Moreso than ‘California Gurls’, ‘Teenage Dream’ is a hit record if we’ve ever heard one. Katy Perry’s second single has all the elements of a hit pop record.
There’s the sweet delicacy of the strumming guitar chords that transition into crunchier but still-not-agressive grunge-like guitars on the bridge. Over the top is Perry’s very singable melodies and easy to memorize words. ‘You make me/feel like I’m living a/teenage dream/the way you turn me on’. Come on! How hard is that to memorize? Very rarely do we hear a song that so aptly fits a title. This song is not only about teenage love, it sounds like it. Enjoy!
