Hello GlobalGrind:

It’s your girl @FirstLadyEve

I hope you are all enjoying a beautiful fall day! I have extremely busy running my store Miami based store Dule dulceshoes.net and filming for the upcoming second season of Basketballs Wives. You must tune in because it’s going to be amazing!

If you only knew. My life is absolutely perfect and you have to tune in to our season premiere in December for all for all of the juicy details! Sorry – I can’t spoil it for you… 🙂

I recently had a discussion with a friend and the topic of interracial dating came up – and I had to share my thoughts.

As an educated Latina – who is literally colorblind when it comes to dating or friends – I have a huge issue with this topic! It’s 2010 – and I can’t believe that the issue of interracial couples is so prevalent today – as it once was back in the 50’s – before we were born.

It’s such a shame that race still comes up. I think it’s important that when seeking a partner – the deciding factor should be whom you are attracted to, who loves you, and who respects you, and your family.

My future husband will be a man of God who loves me, his family, and puts his family and our family first. I wish everyone felt this way – however we still live in a society where it’s discussed, frowned upon, and often judged.

Coming from NYC – the issue of dating across the board, is less of an issue in my experience, given that it’s the melting pot of the world.

We need to each take a moment each day to not get angry at the ignorance we hear, but to empower those who have limited scope, and encourage them to be open minded.

In the end of the day – I get it people may have preferences, I do too. That is cool. But what is not ok is when you judge others for their decisions.

As a mother, my advice to my daughter is – never let the worlds outside influence impeded your life decisions in anyway. I have overcome a lot of hurdles in my life, and I have done so by respecting everyone, not being judgmental, and staying positive.

Each day we should take a moment to appreciate what we have and promote positivity. Don’t get caught up in the who’s dating who – and what their ethnic background is.

Focusing on bettering yourself, helping others, having a successful career, and finding a life partner who is going to honor YOU – that is if you want one! Ladies – being single and doing you – is ok too!

So – this is how I’m spending each day. What are you doing to make yourself better?

– Evelyn xo
