British photographer turned LA native Kayt Jones almost bought a car instead of a Leica M8 camera when she was 17. Thank goodness she came to her senses otherwise photography would be missing a serious genius.

Jones’ photographs have a cinematic quality and her portfolio of subjects and clients would make anyone with an interest in fashion envious. Naomi Campbell, Chanel Iman, Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer and Christina Ricci are a handful of subjects she’s photographed for clients like Y’s For Yoji Yamamoto, Fendi, French Elle, i-D and Bazaar. Jones studied film and photography in London at the University of Westminster but found her time there to be more intellectual than practical.
It’s no surprise the daughter of an art director of British Vogue would end up as a photographer. ‘I was pretty much born on a photo shoot,’ she told Fashion Bomb Daily, recently. ‘When I was two, my father was art director of British Vogue. For a while I rebelled against fashion photography- but really it is great. I get to make mini movies and they take less time to produce a feature!’ See why Jones is great.
