Drake may not have been one of the headliners for The Bamboozle – a two day music festival featuring over 100 rock, pop, and hip-hop acts – but judging by his performance we definitely thought he was.

But before the performance got underway, Drake already had the crowd in suspense. Rumor had it the Canadian star wasn’t going to be able to perform because of an illness. The crowd started to become restless chanting, ‘We want Drake’ when he didn’t come out on time.

Then, twenty minutes after his scheduled time, Drake came out and it was worth the wait.  The set started off with “Forever” and after two more songs, he addressed the illness rumors, telling the crowd,  “The doctor told me that I shouldn’t come out here and perform today, but I said, ‘mother f*cker you crazy, I’m here to see my family.” The crowd noise went up to a fever pitch.

In between songs he talked to the crowd about his ‘brother in jail’, Lil Wayne. Drake told the crowd since Wayne was only a couple of hours away he wanted to “make enough noise to wake Lil Wayne up,” with his performance. To do it he wanted his fans to rap to Wayne’s verse on “I’m Going In,” and they sure did.

Fans wore shirts to go along with Drake’s feelings about Weezy being in jail. Free Weezy along with his mug shot.

Showing off his romantic side, Drake seemed to focus on the ladies for most of the night. As one of those ladies I was completely fine with that, but some of the males weren’t too happy with it. He talked about being single and looking for someone to keep him company. One girl was lucky enough to go on stage to dance with him for a little. He gave her a few kisses on the cheek before it was back to the music. The next song was a dedication to the ladies with “A Night Off,” from his now classic mixtape, ‘So Far Gone.’

He also did his verse from some of his well-known collaborations, “Bedrock,” “Every Girl,” and “Throw It in the Bag.” In between songs he let everyone know that his next song was his favorite song that he has ever written which ended up being “Fear.”

Fans didn’t seem to notic when Drake went over his set time by a half hour and neither did Drake. When people behind the scenes told him to end his set what did he do? Play more songs.

To close out his set he had rapper Birdman come out  to perform two of his hits, ‘4 My Town’ and ‘Money To Blow.’

By the end of his set, Drake, the non-headliner proved to the crowd he is worthy of the superstar status he has cultivated over the past year. For those who were not Drake fans before they definitly were.

Who else has seen Drake live? What did you all think of his performance? Let me know!
