Diggy Simmons, who’s been going hard with his music recently, just scored a deal with Atlantic Records. After releasing his first mixtape, Point To Prove, and the video for his ‘Made You Look’ frestyle, Diggy had the internet going crazy and the labels were soon biting. He ended up signing with Atlantic Records. He sat with Daily News to discuss his deal, music and more. Here’s an excerpt of the interview and the video is below!

‘It feels great. It’s almost surreal,’ he told the Daily News Tuesday of his deal with Atlantic.

‘I worked for it all. My dad didn’t shop me around at a label or anything.’

Diggy, born Daniel Simmons, credits using the Internet – specifically, his blog and his Twitter account – for helping to generate buzz over his music.

‘The Internet is a great tool to use,’ said the teenager, who didn’t have to leave his Bergen County, N.J., home to make music.

He met producers online, and they e-mailed tracks for him to rap on.

His big break came after he posted a 13-track mixed tape, ‘The First Flight,’ on his blog. The digital album was downloaded by more than 100,000 people.

‘After the mixtape dropped, it was like a lot of labels were just coming in and wanted to be involved,’ Diggy said.
