The word “Pawn” comes to mind as we watch this Alvin Greene story unfold.  Alvin Greene is the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate in South Carolina. Mr. Greene is unemployed, a 12 year army veteran and lives with his elderly father.

Something is rotten in the state of South Carolina and I don’t know about Alvin Greene Being Barack Obama’s Black Savior, if anything he might be a pawn in a game that is much bigger than him. As a result there are different theories floating around. One, he was the first name on the ballot so therefore people will most likely vote for the first name they see. Two, there might have been a computer malfunction or glitch in the voting booth; people might have thought they were voting for Vic Rawl, the man running against Greene.

Three, which is the theory that everyone seems to think is true, that the Republican Party planted Mr. Greene in the Democratic primary. This one might be a little far-fetched because really, are the Republicans that conniving and cunning? The fact is 59% of the people voted for Mr. Greene and as of now he is the nominee for Senate in South Carolina. There are still questions that need to be asked such as where did Mr. Greene get the $10,000 if he was unemployed?

If it does come out that the Republican Party planted Mr. Greene, why in South Carolina and why Alvin Greene? Is this a Mr. Smith Goes to Washington scenario? The ne’er-do-well goes to the big city and makes changes?

If it is true, does the G.O.P. think that they can use us as pawns in their game for power? Are they using the slow speaking black man as a joke or patsy? If it is true, why did Greene take the $10,000 filing fee? I guess they come to you when you are your most weak and vulnerable. There’s something rotten in the state of South Carolina and if the truth ever comes out we will see who is the pawn.
