When you look at the keys on a piano it is made up of mostly ivory keys but the ebony keys adds the flavor to an ordinary melody of the once syncopated rhythm, turning it into a masterpiece. We have shaped this nation.

When it comes to the ebony rich skin of the African nation, down to the thick black hair that was made to stand high and take the shape of a crown; our African people. The bond that we have as a people is unconditional. Only we could fully understand the trials and tribulations we have endured. “An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.” – Martin Luther King Jr. “Nobody can give you freedom. Nobody can give you equality or justice or anything. If you’re a man, you take it.”- Malcolm X “America never was America to me and yet I swear this oath”- Langston Hughes. So let me ask you this. Why is it that as a race that fought so hard together to be looked at and classified as an equal tend to be the main people that contribute to downfall of our race? As a people it is important that we focus on building each other up instead of putting our money in the hands of others who look down upon us. The nation that our ancestors have tried to create has slowly turned into the battle of the survival of the fittest within our own race. We are so busy being in competition with each other, which causes us to lose sight on building each other up and making the wealth in other races pockets increase while ours decreases into the pits of nothingness. It is important that we continue to stand together and help our fellow BLACK brothers and sisters on the path of greatness!!! I felt it was important to use the word black, because black is word that signifies empowerment.

We started using black to define us as a race in the 1960’s during the black power movement to justify strength within the community. As a people our minds are still enslaved over the mental torture we have endured, but it is time to break free of the mental shackles and take a stand to better ourselves. But I don’t blame you we have been stripped of our culture and all of our traditions to the point where we are now left with someone else’s identity and someone else’s traditions.

The reason why some Muslims put X in their name is to state that there is an unknown within their identity. There is definitely a whole in our identity forcing us to create our own language Ebonics giving us something that we can call our own in order to establish a language that was forgotten amongst our people.

We are very powerful as a people the more we stand together the more we will be able to accomplish. The Europeans came in and tried to separate us and in some cases it is working. We have young men and women going out and killing our race off little by little by not even realizing this is what the white man wants and we are falling into the trap. We as people need to pull together and stand tall once we are able to do that the sky is the limit.
