President Obama and Kanye West have had a rough relationship from the get-go. Obama famously called Ye a “jackass” on more than one occasion. West, never one to keep his opinion to himself, gave Mr. President a piece of his mind in one of his famed rants earlier this year.

Well, Obama is addressing Yeezus once again, and this time he’s taking on Kim Kardashian too! In an interview with David Blum for Kindle Singles, the president was asked about the American dream.

“Part of the American dream–even if you’re poor, or lower-middle class–involves yearning for tangible things you can’t afford. Were there things, when you were growing up, that you yearned for that you couldn’t afford?” Blum asked.

President Obama’s answer? That may surprise you. He told Blum that there has been a shift in the American dream recently. He said that when he was growing up, the dream involved having a good home, a good job and gaining access to higher education. Today, the American dream has become something less attainable. Children are exposed to such wealth via celebrities in the media that they have unreal expectations for themselves.

“There was not that window into the lifestyles of the rich and famous,” he said.

He went on to diss KimYe, saying that their over-the-top lifestyle gives people the wrong idea.

“Kids weren’t monitoring every day what Kim Kardashian was wearing, or where Kanye West was going on vacation, and thinking that somehow that was the mark of success,” he explained.

Remember that, kids! Kim and Kanye may be able to drop unreal amounts of money on pricey pads and cribs for North West, but take it from Barack Obama – they’re the exception.
