Kerry Washington On Essence Magazine

Well, damn. We can see just why Kerry Washington was named the Best Dressed Woman In The World.

Looking stunning on the cover of the November Issue of ESSENCE magazine, Kerry Washington gives us a taste of glam in a gold Rafael Cennamo Couture dress, no jewelry (yes, that means no wedding ring!) and a matching gold-tipped French manicure. Styled by the great June Ambrose, we can safely say our girl Kerry is slaying.

In the issue, the Emmy nominated actress opens up about the different tastes in style between her and her character Olivia Pope on the popular ABC show Scandal. She also talks about how she winds down, and her addiction to live-tweeting.

Check out some excerpts from the interview below.

On the differences between Olivia Pope and the real Kerry:

“Olivia has three [fashion] modes: Work Olivia, Black-Tie Gala Olivia and At Home Olivia, “My fashion is more eclectic: There’s Going to Work Kerry, which is gym clothes and Nike kicks. That’s the Bronx girl. There’s also Red Carpet Kerry and Out to Dinner With Friends Kerry.”

On what a Girl’s Night Out with Kerry is like:

“It would involve a lot of wine.” For her, “I drink maybe twice a year. I would be with my three best friends from high school or my girlfriends from the show.”

In the behind the scenes video, Kerry Washington also shares her live tweeting habits throughout the show:

“I’m usually live-tweeting every Thursday when Scandal is on, Even at work if we’re like in between takes we’re running to our phones and live-tweeting a bit. Or if we see somebody’s not acting, we’re like ‘You should be tweeting!’ It’s very difficult to be a director on the Scandal set on Thursdays between 7 and 8 because that’s the east coast showing or 10 to 11 because we are just so focused on tweeting…I’m always with you guys.”

Can’t get enough of Kerry Washington? We get it, we get it, neither can we.

Check out her behind the scenes video here. The cover is perfectly timed, as Season 3 of Scandal is set to premiere on Thursday, October 3rd.
