Eastern Michigan football star Demarius Reed had a bright future ahead of him, but it unfortunately came to a sad ending.

The football player, who was a junior at his school, was recently found dead in the hallway of his apartment building after allegedly being shot to death.

His body was found by his roommate around 7:15 AM on Friday, with some of his possessions missing.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Demarius was on his way to being a star player to hopefully play for the NFL. His childhood coach said of his death:

It’s really hard for me to talk about it,” Dimitrius Hardwick, one of Reed’s childhood coaches, said outside Gately Stadium on Friday afternoon before a Simeon football game. “His drive and his will to succeed in life, period, whether it was in school or on the field, you know that was just the type of young man he was.”

Police say that there are currently no suspects in custody and that an investigation is currently ongoing.

We pray for Demarius’ family and hope that justice is served.
