As children, we can’t quite understand or appreciate just how blessed we are to be alive in this world. Sense of sight, touch and smell all seem like things we are supposed to have, but honestly, we are not “supposed” to have anything at all. All of the things that we possess or that is a part of our essence is a gift, and it shouldn’t be taken for granted. We eventually grow up and still take the most simple yet significant things for granted. Have you ever realized how important your legs and hands are? Do you know how blessed you are to be able to speak and have clean air to breath? Those are just a few things that mean so much to our everyday lives, yet we neglect the opportunities to be grateful in our quiet moments and recognize how drastically life would shift without them. Being thankful is a celebration that should take place every single day; it is a lifestyle. How often do you reflect to appreciate what you have in your life? We end up in a rut when we are going through a troublesome time. But, we must remember that no matter how bad our situation may seem, there are thousands of things to be appreciative for in our lives.

1. Grandparents – For giving life to our parents.

2. Parents – Without them, there’s no you.

3. Heart – For pumping blood throughout our body; for giving us the ability to live.

4. Senses – Sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. How amazing to see bright colors, listen to raindrops, touch a lover’s hands, smell our favorite perfume and taste the sweetest fruits.

5. Brain – Our brain gives us the ability to create wonderful memories. This allows us to grow and become the best we can be.

7. Tears – The joyful tears along with the ones that are associated with pain. Tears are the words the heart can’t say.

8. Sun – For providing us with the energy we need to survive.

9. Books – For giving us a platform to write and read so that we can express ourselves and gain knowledge.

10. Music – For bringing joy to our ears when we’re down and for inspiring our life.

11. Mistakes – For showing us that we can do better.

12. Smile – For giving us a way to make others feel good about themselves.

13. Enemies – For  helping us to appreciate our real friends.

14. Laughter – For shaking up our bodies with joy.

15. Love – For allowing us to feel what it means to truly live.

16. Life – For giving us the chance to experience all that we are experiencing, and will be experiencing in time to come.
