Back in November, Ashanti Instagrammed herself supporting her little sister while rocking separates from the Dymes Apparel collection. Back then, the range was limited to the brand’s recognizable signature monochromatic sporty pieces.
Last week, Ashanti was on the scene decked out in Dymes once again, but this time it was to support their very first runway show.
Dymes Only is a brand new female streetwear brand, barely 8 months old, owned and developed by Shia Douglas and her two best friends Sakara Barnes and Elisa Burton. The Dymes decided to transform their Lifestyle Brand into a clothing line after the major feedback they received over their t-shirt designs.
The Presidential Dymes, in conjunction with Pynk Magazine and SixOne7Creative, brought out celebrities and tastemakers of New York City for a fabulous night of fashion at the debut launch of the Dymes Only “Wifey’s Only” Spring/Summer collection for New York Fashion Week, with Open House Gallery serving as the back drop for the first show.
The models rocked the runway in fashions including tanks, tees, skirts, headpieces, and customized tops. Reality TV star Kimbella (LHHNY) helped to open the show, setting the tone for each gal to strut their stuff in front of a sold out crowd.
Guests also included Ashanti, Slowbucks, Meeka Claxton (BBW/Pynk Magazine), Maino and Juelz Santana. Attendees enjoyed complimentary Ciroc and Twenty Grand Vodka, as well as gift bags stuffed with goodies from Dymes Only, Beautiful Textures and Blink Cosmetics.
