The Malaysian flight that went off the radar on March 8th still hasn’t been found, but there’s a chance that we might know something soon.

According to the LA Times, a Chinese satellite has just discovered a large object floating in the Indian Ocean, which measures 74 feet by 34 feet.

The site reports:

Later Saturday, China’s state-owned media CCTV tweeted an image of the object, and said it was captured by satellite Tuesday and located about 75 miles southwest of the debris spotted by Australia. The Australian image was taken last Sunday.

The finding by the Chinese reflects its substantial satellite capabilities and increasing involvement in the multinational search and rescue efforts for the missing airplane, now entering its third week.

China already has five ships in the so-called southern corridor of the search area that has become the focus of the investigation, and it is sending an additional two there, Hishammuddin said in a statement during the press briefing, which was cut short by the satellite sighting news. He also said two Chinese aircraft capable of hauling heavy items were expected to arrive Saturday in Perth to join the operations.

So far, Australia, the United States, and New Zealand aircrafts have been involved in the search for the plane, and now China will join them. CNN has reported that Australian-led search teams found no sign of it earlier today.

While there was debris discovered earlier this week that was thought to be from the flight crashing, it turns out that it wasn’t the plane at all.

Hopefully, this vast search will bring in some clues soon.
