Five people were taken to the hospital on Wednesday after gunfire erupted at a 21st birthday party in Massachusetts, according to police.

The shootings occurred at a home in Lowell at about 11 p.m.

According to Huffington Post:

Capt. Kelly Richardson says three men and two women were hurt. She says their injuries do not appear life-threatening.

A woman shot in the chest and a man struck in the leg were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Three other victims were brought to the hospital in private vehicles.

No names or ages were immediately available.

Neighbors say they thought they heard fireworks before realizing it was gunfire. One neighbor told The Sun of Lowell he heard seven gunshots in succession.

Police have yet to make any arrests.
