On the heels of releasing The M.A.F.E. Project and nabbing a Grammy nomination for his collaboration with ScHoolboy Q on the Oxymoron album cut “Studio,” R&B crooner BJ The Chicago Kid teams up with the TDE homie once again for a new jam titled “It’s True.”

Inspired by the streets, BJ decided to make an anti-gang record that encourages young kids, especially young kids in Chicago, to stay away from crime-ridden areas.

In a recent interview with The FADER, BJ revealed he was nervous playing ScHoolboy Q the record, due to the TDE rapper’s gang activity as a Hoover Crip.

“I was initially very nervous playing this track for Schoolboy Q. It is a PSA. Its mission is to let people know that you do not have to be involved in gang-like activity to be affected by it, to be hurt or killed by it. This life is real and can hurt the most innocent of people,” he said.

“It’s True” is featured on The M.A.F.E. Project, but will go on sale separately on iTunes at midnight.
