Alabama-bred MC Yelawolf played rock star during his sold out New York City concert at Highline Ballroom. The 2011 XXL Freshman rapper wowed a diverse crowd on Tuesday night, appealing to skater kids, rap fans and of course, his female fans. Yela performed all his most popular tracks off his most recent offering “Trunk Muzik 0-60,” including “Pop My Trunk” and “Good To Go.” Cyhi Da Prynce and Pharoahe Monch were also on hand to help Yela out.
Yelawolf spilled to MTV News that his rock star vibe comes from his childhood listening preferences. “I grew up watching Redman and Cypress Hill,” he said. “You know, (I was) going out to Lollapalooza, where it was rock and hip-hop. That was the energy that I wanted to have as a performer to connect with the fans.”
