Mario Epanya has been working diligently to launch a Vogue Africa magazine. Covers have been circulating each month, and the fashion industry has been a buzz awaiting the first official book. Unfortunately, Vogue, who usually serves at the forefront of innovation and declaration, have opted to go in another direction. Without official reasoning of their veto, we wonder what the doubt stems from.

Many publications have opened Africa/South Africa media divisions to support and shed light on the untapped fashion resources that the continent has to offer, and although Vogue has decided to expand their web presence with ventures like Vogue Italia, it’s unexplainable as to why Conde Nast doesn’t deem it fashionably responsible or authoritative to own Africa as a mecca for style and beauty.
