Monday marked the 43rd anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Now, newly discovered photos of James Earl Ray have surfaced. Photographer Gil Michael was the young man who photographed James Earl Ray as he was being booked into the Shelby County Jail.

Forty-three years later, the never before seen pictures, overlooked for decades in the Shelby County archives, were released this week. In the exclusive pictures you can see candid shots of James Earl Ray in his cell at Shelby County Jail, being booked by Shelby County officers and talking with deputies as he is being processed.
