Virginia Commonwealth University student Ian Burnet has been missing for two weeks. Parents of the boy said they haven’t heard from him since last year on December 30th.

According to the NY Daily News, the boy traveled to New York on a bus the day after Christmas to spend the New Year with his friends. He stayed at an apartment with two female friends on 139th St. and Riverside Drive.
Authorities have done a thorough search of morgues, hospitals and jails in the area and found nothing. They were able to track his MetroCard which was last used at 145th Street in West Harlem.
He was last seen by his friends leaving the apartment without his cell phone and did not say where he was headed.
Ian’s mother Nancy Burnet said the last time she communicated with Ian was via text on December 27th.
The situation is scary for his family and friends considering Ian has a history of suicide attempts and depression. His older brother Jamie Burnet reacted to his brother’s disappearance saying:
“We’ve put up fliers and we’ve talked to the shelters and the cops but I don’t know what else to do. He has a history of depression and he was in a strange place.
He was an engineer, a redditor, and the most important person in my life. I need your help. I realize that this subreddit has only the minutest fraction of the population of New York City subscribed, and even all of reddit combined, all of the INTERNET put together, would not represent a hopeful percentage, but I don’t know what to do.”
Ian is identified as White, 5’8, 131 pounds, with curly brown hair.
