2. Iman Nunez ft. Dizzy Banko – Growing Pains

Source:Iman Nunez

As premiered on BET Jams, Iman Nunez takes no time to discuss “Growing Pains” in his newest video. The song focuses on how Iman has to separate from his old life to elevate in his new one. He opens the video right away with the lines: “I love your soul but I cannot have you around me. I’m working to be better than I am and you’re just stuck on who I was so I can’t have you drown me. No disrespect but we ain’t kids no more and now I got more people that I’m providing for…”

“Growing Pains” is from Iman’s two-track project What’s Next?. The Haysuse-produced song reflects some themes from the two-pack including: being limitless, maintaining the fire for your passions, and making sacrifices for greater things.

The TwentyTwoTime shot visual has Iman and Dizzy Banko rapping at a variety of locations from gardens to boroughs to a spacious room with color-changing lights. Dizzy Banko raps about how he moves like a vet and is aware of how time is money in his career. He shouts out his day 1’s and states that he’ll stay down for them through anything.

3. YNP Maine ft. Ndotspinalot – Aw Yeah

Source:YNPMaineVEVO

Breakout Louisiana teenaged rapper YNP Maine shares his razor-sharp new single “Aw Yeah” featuring Ndotspinalot via Priority Records. The All Day produced song hears the young MCs trade tightly wound verses with one another over a punishing beat that elicits their most athletic flows. It also comes complete with a Haitian Picasso directed video that captures the pair journeying through New York City.

YNP Maine is an unmistakable voice of the South—he grew up between Baton Rouge and nearby Gonzales, and has that city’s penchant for bleeding-heart honesty in his raps—but the visuals for “Aw Yeah” find them on Ndotspinalot’s home turf. The rappers saunter through record label offices, inhale plates of noodles, and flaunt Maine’s crisp Latrell Spreewell Knicks jersey. The linkup is the pure embodiment of the collaboration, melodic pain music fused with New York drill.

To that point, the song perfectly weaves those twin impulses of emotionality and aggression. While the song sounds constantly on the verge of becoming an outright threat, it’s also concerned with timeless themes like betrayal and loyalty. “You say that you love ‘em,” YNP Maine raps at one point, as if he can peer into the soul of the person on the receiving end of his rhymes. “You can’t even trust ‘em.”

While Ndotspinalot—an exploding phenomenon in his own right—is the New Yorker, YNP Maine has found himself carrying on some of that city’s hip-hop lineages. “Aw Yeah” comes in the wake of “Voices,” which was included on French Montana and DJ Drama’s Coke Boys 6: Money Heist Edition. That co-sign followed The Start, his breakout record from last year, which showcased YNP Maine’s unique spin on the sound that has dominated Southern hip-hop across the last decade.

4. grouptherapy. – Peak

Source:grouptherapydotVEVO

The captivating collective grouptherapy. announces their new album i was mature for my age, but i was still a child which is slated for release on June 27th. In celebration, they share a striking new single “Peak” accompanied by a hypnotic new music video. Following the release of two explosive singles that spanned across sonic realms, “Peak” is yet another pleasant shift that sees the captivating Jadagrace taking center stage through an atypical ballad of sorts, cementing the group’s boundless versatility. While existing among a body of work that is lined with radical self love and revels in their resilience, the track captures the humanity in all of us, drawing in on those all-too-difficult moments in between where we lose our power and sometimes ourselves, but making us nonetheless loveable or complete. The album is available for pre-order HERE.

Based in Los Angeles, grouptherapy. consists of three members, Jadagrace, SWIM and TJOnline, who have been close friends and peers for over 15 years and united during tumultuous periods of their young lives. They found solace and friendship with one another while navigating the all too often murky terrain of the entertainment realm. Individually they are vast and distinct and collectively they beautifully amplify the talents of one another, resulting in an art that surpasses the confines of genre and exists unlike anything else out right now. They create from a place of love, unrelenting passion and a refreshing desire to grow and embrace the dualities that make up their DNA, producing a one-of-a-kind transformative art that not only thrills but also provides belonging to those on the margins. The young group has quickly garnered large critical acclaim from The New Yorker, Teen Vogue, i-D Magazine, Paper Magazine, Fader, Revolt, Clash Magazine, Stereogum, Flood Magazine and many more.

GROUPTHERAPY. On “Peak”:

“A common theme for our singles has been embracing your darker side and finding the beauty in it. ‘Peak’ is the desire to escape, wanting someone to hold you while you take something to make the pain go away. Whether or not you indulge, I think everyone has fantasized about floating away on a cloud. This song explores that impulse.”

5. Moosie Wins – Here We Go Again

Source:Moosie WIns - Topic

He exclaims how he wants to love the woman he lost but doesn’t like how she’s stuck in her old ways.

“Here We Go Again,” tells two stories of trying to love someone through their repetitive habits and finding himself back in the studio to power through another breakup. In the song, he realizes that he can’t be stuck in the past and has to move forward, even if he doesn’t want to.

9. Lil $o$o & Tay Money – No Hands

Source:LIL SOSO

Ahead of spot dates in Tampa and Orlando this weekend in addition to her scheduled performance at Rolling Loud Portugal’s festival lineup in July, Lone Star State lyricist Tay Money  joins “Florida Girl” Lil $o$o  for “No Hands;” a twerk tournament soundtracked by SGull Beats and brought to life on the small screen by director Melissa Marin. Following the release of “Catch A Trick,” “Expensive Taste,” and most recently “Bunny Hop,” the new single will live on her forthcoming ‘Girl Rap’ project.

In an exclusive press statement to Medium Creative Agency, $o$o details how the collaboration came together:

“This song was super fun to make. I wanted to put my personality into it and make an easygoing song for people to vibe to. When I first heard the record, immediately I wanted my girl Tay Money on it. Her natural charismatic nature paired with that southern twang fit perfectly with the production.”

There’s something in the water. From the City Girls to Kodak Black, with a long list of others, the Sunshine State has been the stomping ground for hip-hop’s culture shifters. Entertainer Lil $o$o is looking to keep that tradition alive. Despite being native to Chicago, since moving to Miami in her early childhood, she’s proudly claimed it as her musical home.

The 22-year-old Colombiana, whose real name is Sofia Donado, has persevered through trauma and pain and continues to show up for herself and her 3-year-old son, who she’s raising as a single mom. Lil $o$o’s boyfriend was gunned down in 2019, while sitting in his car, leaving her without a partner and their son without a father. He was in the music business, and after his passing, Lil $o$o found healing in discovering her musical voice. The result was upbeat rhythms intended to make people dance, smile, and feel free. It was the only way she knew how to make things better.

After laying the groundwork with promo singles “Better Life,” “Go Ooh,” “Bad Attitude,” and “Woo Tang,” the rising rapstress made her official debut Summer of 2022 with ‘$o$o World.’ Executive produced by mentor and label head LunchMoney Lewis, the 14-track collection of records includes additional instrumentation from JulianBeatz, SFL Xavi, TheonlyDiet, Toju, BrianXWhite, Diem, and SoundsbyBreezy. Guest features come by way of Roc Nation recording artist Bobby Fishscale, XXXTentacion affiliate C Glizzy, Warner Records vocalist Savannah Cristina, and Nelle.

Shot on location in the 757, the HD clip finds Cameron contemplating decisions in a black BMW before linking with a love interest to explain what he has to do now for a fruitful future.

In an exclusive press statement to Medium Creative Agency, the talented Commonwealth creative shares the record’s origins:

“This song means so much to me because it forever mints when the switch went off in my brain to bet on myself wholeheartedly. This a direct reflection of where I currently am in both my overall journey in life and my music career. I consider it an anthem to growth.”

Cameron”CMRNPRKR” Goodman is an American Hip-Hop recording artist from the Virginia city of Suffolk. At just 28 years old, he has already shared the stage with Something In The Water festival creator Pharrell Williams and recorded music with New Jack Swing inventor Teddy Riley. 16. T.F. & 2Eleven ft. Jay Worthy – Honor The Gift

Source:2eleven

While he was born in Sacramento, T.F. spent his formative years in Los Angeles.  Living in a Crip-heavy neighborhood known as the “50’s,” as a young teen, he choose getting jumped in over getting jumped.  An attempted bank robbery, followed by a parole violation leads the then 18-year-old to being incarcerated for the first time.  While imprisoned, T.F., along with other incarcerated prisoners fought southern California wildfires, to prevent smoldering blazes from incinerating more acres, mountains, hillsides, and homes; nearly dying in the process.

Though T.F. has recorded songs dating back to as early as 2006, a final prison stint stunted his goals until he was released in 2012 and he began recording in earnest again.  T.F has spent the last decade gradually ascending to become one of LA’s sharpest pens, along the way expanding his brand and catalog.  A few guest appearances (including “Tookie Knows II” with Schoolboy Q) brought him early recognition and set the stage for his solo work; including Blame Kansas (2022) a collaborative project with Roc Marciano, which featured collaborations with Conway The Machine, Flee Lord, Crimeapple & Mephux, and his Skanless Levels series with producer 2 Eleven (which has featured collaborations with Larry June, Conway The Machine, Jay Worthy, G Perico and Trizz among others).

After linking with Rome Streetz for “Pill Form,” T.F. and 2 Eleven return with a new single and video “Honor The Gift,” which features Jay Worthy.  You can watch the new video for “Honor The Gift” below.

Skanless Levels 4 features appearances from Roc Marciano, Jay Worthy, Rome Streetz and Trizz.

T.F. & 2 Eleven’s Skanless Levels 4 will be released on June 23.

17. Gunna – a Gift & a Curse

Source:Gunna

Eighteen months before a Gift & a Curse, Gunna was in a very different position. The Georgia native ushered in 2022 with the chart-topping success of DRIP SEASON 4EVER and its lexicon-altering hit “pushin P” with Young Thug. In May of that year, both he and his YSL label boss found themsleves under indictment in a sweeping RICO case. By Decmber, he was free, only to be faced with wild speculation over the terms of his release. Caught up in the fallout, he clapped back over the rumors and narratives that formed about and around him with the single “bread & butter.” Scarred and singed by some of the most damaging accusations one could face in the rap game or the streets, he unloads his lyrical clip in spectacular fashion on his first album since his arrest.

Throughout a Gift & a Curse, Gunna makes it a point to address his predicamenthead-on, offering a perspective as unique as the circumstances. A defiant superstar, he reintroduces himself to his fans and haters alike on the simmering “back at it,” following it swiftly with the confident and confrontational “back to the moon.” He shakes his head and shrugs his shoulders over what’s changed with “idk nomore” while returning to the lavish normalcy of his pre-arrest lifestyle via “rodeo dr” and “p angels.” For the grand finale, “alright,” he sees the path forward clearer than ever, shouting out YSL amid a hopeful chorus.

20. D Sturdy – Get Em

Source:D Sturdy - Topic

D Sturdy loves a balancing act. The young Philadelphia-raised rapper is living one right now, navigating his place as a member of the rising rap group Philly Goats with his skyrocketing solo career. Still, even as his nimble raps make him a star in his own right, his loyalties and allegiances lie with the trio that features his brother and their dear friend; he’s taking care of his crew above all else. He started rapping alongside his bandmates a few years back, messing around in the studio before realizing that he possessed a tremendous gift on the mic. Sturdy’s new single, “Against the World,” from his forthcoming Trendsetter project for Def Jam, proves he deserves to be one of the most in-demand rappers of 2023. Coupled with his background as a serious dancer, D Sturdy has channeled his love of rap into a singular voice that has quickly taken over the rap game through his solo work and the near-omniscient presence of Philly Goats on TikTok, Spotify playlists, and beyond. But it’s his maturity that his trajectory so tantalizing. D Sturdy is a remarkably assured 18-year-old whose even-keeled demeanor will serve him well as he continues to take over the rap world. 21. RJAE – You’re The Problem

Source:RJAE

New Orleans hip hop and R&B artist, RJAE has officially released his debut studio album under his newly-announced signing with Roc Nation entitled, You’re The Problem.

On his debut LP, RJAE showcases his sonic versatility blending captivating rap wordplay with soulful R&B harmonies for a sound that has been curated as uniquely his own. The 11-track genre-blending collection showcases new depths to the artist’s vulnerability, taking fans through his introspective experiences with love, loss, and growth along the way. The unique sound RJAE brings to the genre underscores his rapid growth as the next breakout star from the NBA camp, and his rise as a never-before-seen champion for New Orleans coming out of the south.

The NOLA artist provided fans a first look glimpse into the storytelling behind the project in a recent teaser video on social media in tandem with an Instagram Live session earlier this week with Lil Wayne’s daughter, Reginae Carter.

The most recent single from the extended EP, “Can’t Get Rid of Me” taps Harlem rapper Fergie Baby, for a high-energy flow between the duo, punctuated with teasing ad-libs as he warns “I’m back” and the game “can’t get rid of me.” The accompanying visual for the collaborative track extends the homage HD pays to New York through styling easter eggs nodding to DMX, curated visual choices from Bronx designer, Thalia Hernandez, and more.

Today’s drop includes lead single “Happening” featuring Bronx rapper Connie Diiamond. The rapper gives fans a deeper look into his struggle with relationships while pursuing his dreams of breaking through the music industry.

“We had to continue building on the energy we created with the first version of the project, I had a lot more sitting in the vault.” says HDBeenDope “Here we go, four more songs coming straight out of the streets of New York.”

This week, HDBeenDope hosted a pop up in Manhattan’s Bowery Showroom with a surprise performance that featured Fergie Baby and Connie Diiamond in celebration of the extended release.

25. Asha Imuno – Pushing Buttons

Source:Asha Imuno

Off the success of the breakthrough hit “ZIG ZAGGING” garnering over 10M streams independently, Hip-Hop & R&B newcomer Asha Imuno is set to release his debut album Pins & Needles with the first single from the project “PUSHING BUTTONS” available today on all platforms. The hauntingly mellow track is the perfect introduction to the level of personal and emotional self-discovery the buzzworthy newcomer has lovingly packed into this nuanced and sonically beautiful new collection of songs. Along with the single, Imuno has delivered an equally emotionally rich video that captures the same range of emotions built into the song’s lyrics and production.

For the Moreno Valley, CA native, “PUSHING BUTTONS” represents karma, the reapings of carelessness, and a reminder to self that impulsive reactionary decisions tend to come with steep consequences. The song is also a reflection of times that Asha has let himself down; and as such, it opens with the multi-hyphenate musician giving fans insight into his inner dialogue. “What you dodging, why you ducking?,” Asha sings, with his honey-coated vocals softening the blow of the embedded self-confrontation and recognition of the unhealthy loop of quick fixes & vices he has used to mask his true feelings.

While the sentiments within Asha’s lyrics are universally relatable, “PUSHING BUTTONS” was inspired by a personal, traumatic moment in the young artist’s life. After surviving a six-car accident caused by a dispute in his hometown, Asha was left with a lingering feeling of shame, acknowledging the danger he had put himself in, and reckoning with the impermanence of life. The video for “PUSHING BUTTONSfinds Asha in several dystopian settings, alternately capturing moments of suppressing his feelings and hiding from his emotions; intentionally sitting in self-reflection; and moments of hope into a better way of living – just as the song does.

Produced intimately by Asha and close friend and collaborator Zach Ezzy (Jordan Ward, Alex Isley) Pins & Needlesfinds the 22-year-old fearlessly sharing his exploration into all facets of his life – his identity, his family, his childhood, his mental health, his vices, his art, and his love for music. The multi-hyphenate has spent the last few years growing alongside the Los Angeles-based POC-led artist community, KOGO (with Curtis Waters, Alé Araya, CONNIE, KOAD & more) & building his experiential brand, WAITINGROOM, via which he sold out two major events in Los Angeles last year.

PINS & NEEDLES signals the next chapter for Asha, reflecting on the growing pains of youth, diving into the nuance of his own vices, and iterating on the complications of navigating childhood as a young black kid from the Inland Empire. The album explores all of these experiences intimately, but gently, with emotionally provocative refrains cuddled next to intricate, aggressive rap pockets. Inspired heavily by New Amerykah Part 2 by Erykah Badu & To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar – honesty & originality are the through-line, as Asha seamlessly weaves between hip-hop, R&B, soul & all of his influences in between.

He will be releasing his forthcoming album via Guin Records – ADA/Warner in the fall.
