Chris Brown, Tee Grizzley & Baby Tate Highlight This Week’s New Music Roundup

1. Chris Brown ft. Davido & Lojay – Sensational

Grammy winning singer/songwriter Chris Brown shares his new track and video “Sensational” featuring Davido and Lojay out now via RCA Records. The track comes alongside a child.-directed visual that highlights those signature Chris Brown dance moves and specials effects. Brown has announced his new album 11:11 that is set to be released November 11^th via RCA Records.

Directed by Christian Breslauer, the video showcases dancers from all of Brown’s past eras in a vibrant, playful way that asserts that love rules all. It is an ode to a passionate summer in Los Angeles where he is continuing to level up and find his groove, while also acknowledging the people who have led him to where he is. 

Brown released his Grammy nominated BREEZY (Deluxe)album in July 2022 (click here to listen) and the alternative BREEZY – It’s Giving Christmas version in November 2022 (click here to listen). The  deluxe version added Anderson .Paak and Davido to the already star-studded list of features from major artists that included H.E.R., Jack Harlow, Bryson Tiller and more. Throughout his career, Brown has continued to break records – even his own – and received a plethora of accolades. Chris Brown currently stands as the R&B singer with the most Hot 100 entries in Billboard history to-date.

2. serpentwithfeet ft. Ty Dolla $ign – Damn Gloves

The Grammy-nominated groundbreaking alternative R&B artist serpentwithfeet announces the release of his highly anticipated new album, GRIP, is set for February 16th via Secretly Canadian. In celebration, he shares his insatiable new single “Damn Gloves” featuring Ty Dolla $ign and South African artist, Yanga YaYa, along with an intoxicating companion video. Ushering in a new era for the artist personally and sonically, we see serpent brimming with poise and tenacity in a fully realized form as he unveils his best work to date.

The release follows serpent’s explosive debut theatrical run with his critically acclaimed Heart of Brick show that will continue to tour the US until November 1st. The dance theater production chronicles a moving love story within a Black gay club that features a one-of-kind performance by a cast of extraordinary dancers and music from serpent’s GRIP. Heart of Brick was created by serpent, co-written by award winning poet Donte Collins, directed by multimedia artist Wu Tsang, choreographed by dance-theater artist Raja Feather Kelly and produced by The Joyce Theater Foundation. 3. G6reddot – Z6

Florida’s very own G6reddot (@g6reddot) is making a name for himself with the release of his latest project Z6. The 6-track EP includes tracks such as “326(get away),” “Mhmmmmmm,” and the beloved fan-favorite, “Hard.” Z6 marks G6reddot’s debut project & he’s ready to show the world what they’ve been missing. With fewer than ten songs in his discography, it’s an outstanding debut. Born and raised in the vibrant landscape of South Florida, G6reddot’s music is a reflection of his life and experiences. “Hard,” the EP’s lead single, provides an intimate window into his world, inviting you to explore the depths of his soul. 4. Tee Grizzley – Robbery 6

The saga continues today! Multiplatinum Detroit storyteller Tee Grizzley shares his new single and music video “Robbery 6” out now via Grizzley Gang/300 Entertainment. Of course, it picks up where he left off on “Robbery 4” and “Robbery 5,” which adorned his acclaimed 2022 album Chapters of the Trenches. Stream HERE and watch the music video HERE.

Ominous piano sets the tone for the track as tense 808s kicks into high gear. This anxious backdrop complements the intensity of his delivery as he lyrically depicts a pursuit in action, “Damn, I’m surrounded thinking, ‘What the fuck?’” Snapping back to reality out of the haze, he exhales, “I wake up out of breath, it was a motherfucking dream,” only for real life to get even crazier…

Directed by BenMarc, the accompanying visual brings his words to life in an intense play-by-play on-screen. It twists and turns with one unpredictable move after another.

It also lands in the wake of “Grizzley 2Tymes” featuring Finesse2tymes. It has already generated over 1 million Spotify streams and counting in addition to 2.6 million YouTube views on the music video.

Plus, Tee Grizzley just turned up at TwitchCon where he hosted a meet-and-greet. It quickly drew one of the biggest audiences of the day as he posed for photos with fans, autographed badges, and even recorded drops for fans. He connected with a few fans by noticing their tags from his GTA server. He also hung out with massive streamers like Clix—ranked as the world’s #3 Fortnite player and a member of XSet.

“Grizzley 2 Tymes” arrived on the heels of “IDGAF” featuring Chris Brown and Mariah The Scientist. The latter continues to buzz with over 4.1 million Spotify streams, while the music video has tallied 3.4 million views and counting.

5. Marzz – Fake Love

Rising R&B favorite Marzz releases their new single “Fake Love” via Keep Cool/RCA Records. On the meaning behind the song, Marzz says, “it calls out the deception of a relationship. It also reflects a lot about knowing my worth and setting boundaries. It can be a little cocky but it’s ok because it’s a wrap and I’m cool with being myself.”

 “Fake Love” follows Marzz’s latest tracks “Switching Sides” feat. Dee Gatti and “In The Morning.” Highlighting their signature silky vocals, these new offerings is just a taste of what’s to come from Marzz. Stay tuned for more new music. 

It’s been a banner two-years for industry trailblazer Marzz as their 2021 debut EP, Love Letterz, solidified their place as a fresh face in the mainstream R&B scene. A captivating introduction to the Louisville starlets classic R&B and gospel influences. Love Letterz (Deluxe) released a year later with four brand-new tracks showcasing Marzz’s stratospheric growth.

6. Baby Tate – Sexploration: The Musical

Breakout rapper/singer-songwriter/actor Baby Tate releases her wildly ambitious new visual EP, Baby Tate Presents – Sexploration: The Musical via Warner Records. As the title suggests, the 5-track set is a bold exploration of sexual identity and taboos, relationships, self-confidence, and much more. Bursting with raw lyrics, catchy hooks, and club-friendly production from Justin Tranter and more, the EP is destined to be a crowd-pleaser.

Baby Tate Presents – Sexploration: The Musical kicked off earlier this year with the frenetic and high-energy single “Jersey,” setting the stage for Tate’s exuberant world of infectious lines and colorful production from Justin Tranter. The EP opens with “Luv Everybody,” a bouncy anthem in which Baby Tate proclaims her pansexuality. She also presents a cast of characters who join her journey of sexual freedom and exploration in the track’s visual. “Ain’t no need to fight about me, I love everybody,” she sings on the addictive chorus.

Continuing the titillating theme of Tate’s stage play is “Lollipop,” which spotlights the hitmaker’s vocal chops as she shows off seductive dance moves in a candy-coated setting. Also included are “Grip” and “Wig,” a piano-centric stomper in which Baby Tate showcases her rapid-fire flow. Throughout the EP, it becomes clear that Baby Tate is laying her beliefs on the line and connecting with fans in a whole new way. The ambitious project follows white-hot collabs with MFS and Tyler Cole — “Bow” and “I Don’t Wanna Dance,” respectively.

Those tracks were preceded by Baby Tate’s hit reimagining of “Hey Mickey.” Her original version, which first dropped in 2016 before going hyper-viral on TikTok earlier this year, has already amassed more than 100 million cumulative streams. She then followed it up with a remix featuring fellow rapper Saweetie.

The rising artist has been fusing pop, rap, and R&B since the release of her 2015 debut project, ROYGBIV, which she followed with 2019’s acclaimed GIRLS, and 2021’s After the Rain. When Baby Tate isn’t defying genres with her inventive tracks, she’s collaborating with her contemporaries like LAYA on the genre-bending “Sailor Moon 2.0” and JID on the 21 Savage-assisted “Surround Sound” from his The Forever Story album.

7. JasonMartin ft. Kaytranada & Tank – Don’t Stop (Baby, Baby) 2222

New name, who dis…  After announcing a name change (from his professional name Problem, to his birth name JasonMartin) with his I Owe Myself album earlier this year, the multi-hyphenate, now known as JasonMartin, has reached great heights as an artist, producer, film director, business owner (Dubbs Coffee Shop in Hollywood), entrepreneur (his Coffee & Kush Brand) and as a fledging actor (he appeared in the White Men Can’t Jump Reboot). 

Since his reinvention, there has been nary a minute of downtime for Jason.  After releasing the A Compton Story film in October (which is available on Tubi), which he starred in, wrote, and directed, JasonMartin is releasing the album(s) companion piece(s) to the film, which will be released in two separate installments. 

The first installment of A Compton Story will be released on November 3rd.  The first installment features guest appearances from Diddy, Childish Gambino, Schoolboy Q, Hit-Boy, Rich Homie Quan, T.I. & Kaytranada among others.

8. Warhol.SS – 3200 VOL 2

Chicago rapper Warhol, releases his highly anticipated new project 3200 Vol 2, available now on all major streaming platforms. Listen to it here. 

3200 Vol 2 marks the next phase in Warhol’s evolution as an artist. The 3200 saga continues with Vol 2, boasting exciting collaborations with notable artists such as Babyface Ray, Rich the Kid, Dae Money, and more. The new project showcases Warhol’s flawless flow, lyrical prowess, along with exceptional visuals to accompany select singles. In 2017, Warhol surprised the music scene with his 3200 EP, a collection comprising all of his Soundcloud singles. 9. Toure – My Raf

Carving out his own lane with his unstoppable momentum, TOURE uses his lyrics to manifest his success. “My Raf” is a standout from his latest project Life Of The Party which has crossed over 2M streams in two weeks. In the music video, TOURE’s melodies hit hard as he croons, “Chasing my goals, I’m getting everything I’m supposed to get. Because I kept going I kept growing, I was supposed to quit.” His elevation is personified as he performs the song from different views in Milan, Italy, planting the seeds of global domination. 

Life Of The Party is an engrossing project that evokes reflection and hard-earned celebration. King Iso uncovers his anxiously awaited new album, iLLdren, out now via Strange Music. Listen to iLLdren HERE.

He celebrates the arrival of the record with the music video for the new single “Feel” [feat. Tech N9ne & Matt Phoenix]. Watch the video  HERE. 

The song kickstarts this body of work with an openhearted lyrical bloodletting and cathartic chorus. Clean guitar underscores the verses as energy builds towards Iso’s starkly honest refrain as he hopes to “Put down the drink and drugs, so I can feel again.” The visual finds Iso, Tech, and Matt behind bars in an ominous holding cell straight out of a sci-fi nightmare. It brings the push-and-pull of their words to life.

About the song, Iso commented, “I was a teenager during my last suicide attempt. I took a bunch of pills, and I ended up at this church. I prayed to God. I wanted him to let me save that young boy who is me. I woke up the next day, and I had another breath. After I was admitted last year, I hadn’t been clean for a long time. I was smoking and drinking, and I had a bad breakdown. I felt all of the traumas come back. On the song, Tech, Matt, and I are all discussing our childhood pain and tragedy. It’s a beautiful way to begin.”

Right out of the gate, iLLdren has garnered glowing acclaim. Folk N Rock christened it “one of the most powerful albums of the year,” going on to rave,  “With this album, King Iso proves that he’s not just a rapper; he’s a modern-day bard whose tales are as enlightening as they are entertaining.”

Thus far, he has bulldozed the way for iLLdren with the likes of “Nightmare,” “Young” and “Way You Are.” Opening up about his son’s Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis on the latter, the song has really begun to resonate. Autisticana affirmed, “This song shows just how important neurodivergent are to society as they can help raise awareness with their abilities and special needs, despite them being ‘different’.”  Dancing About Architecture asked, “When was the last time such a song said anything this timely and universally relevant, yet this honest and personal…this important? Not for a long time, I’d guess.” In addition, it picked up plugs from Music Existence, Folk N Rock, and more.

Maintaining a prolific pace, “Way You Are” followed the equally tender “My Kids.” Beyond gaining traction at DSPs, it also landed plugs from VENTS Magazine, HipHop Over Everything, and more.

It landed in the wake of “Step Daddy.” The latter has already generated 293K streams and 152K YouTube views on the music video. It continues to gain steam though buoyed by fan enthusiasm, reaction videos, and excitement.

12. Shordie Shordie & Murda Beatz – Memory Lane 2

Multi-platinum recording artist Shordie Shordie and Grammy-nominated producer Murda Beatz add on to their groundbreaking mixtape series with Memory Lane 2. Listen HERE via Warner Records. The anticipated project is the sequel to 2021’s collaborative effort, Memory Lane. 

Memory Lane 2 follows previously released singles “Contacts” and “On You.” Laced with searing production from Murda, the 15-track effort ventures into familiar territory as Shordie teeters towards the edge. Young prodigy Zeddy Will dropped his single “Freak You” with DJ Smallz 732 in July. Since then, it has been featured on Billboard and mega stars like North West, Kim Kardashian, and Coi Leray were three of the 700 TikTok user generated videos of the song. Now 2Rare and Kenzo B join Zeddy for the official remix. 

The video, directed by Matt Coole, starts with a cinematic viewpoint of Zeddy visiting his girlfriend’s place and conversing with her grandfather about his hilarious past. Once Zeddy and his girlfriend get some alone time in the living room, they watch some TV and that’s when 2Rare and Kenzo B make their introduction to the video. The sure, steady, anthemic single tests Malcolm’s will, but he knows where his allegiance lies. “This song is one of my personal favorites. I’ve seen and heard of countless brethren falling away from the faith throughout my years of following Christ. And I get it 100% — actually living it, truly experiencing how wide the road to destruction really is,” he shares of the serious message behind the track. “In Scripture, it says Jesus spent 40 days and 40 nights in the desert to be tested. This was a prophecy He fulfilled before setting out to do ministry. I hope this encourages believers to always fight and stay armored up.”

Outfitted with magnetic vocals and thought-provoking lyrics, “40” is the second glimpse into Malcolm’s forthcoming LP, following spiritual workout “Cardio,” which debuted last month.

The Michigan native’s next studio set is the highly anticipated follow-up to his familial 16-track collection, Tree, which recently received a 2023 GMA Dove Award nomination in the Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year category. The nod marked Malcolm’s seventh career Dove Award nomination. 32. Joyner Lucas – 24 Hours To Live

Two-time, Grammy nominated hip-hop artist Joyner Lucas released his new single “24 Hours to live” which can be streamed HERE and marks the latest release from his forthcoming album, Not Now, I’m Busy. 

The song details Joyner’s anticipated reality and the series of events that would occur if he learned he only had one day left to live. He takes fans on a journey through his turbulent thoughts with lyrics like “take all his sh*t and then steal his identity” and “slap any hater that showed any jealousy.”  

Throughout the song, he rides the beat as he also questions what others would do if they also uncovered a similar fate.  With his signature style, he asks “would you go crazy because of it? Kill every n***a you holdin’ a grudge against?.” He later outros the song with audio of a doctor delivering the same unfortunate news, but laughs at it actually being a misdiagnosis.  

“24 Hours to Live” is the latest in a string of releases from Joyner, whose previous releases include standout songs like “Seventeen,” “Broski,” “Cut U Off (feat. YoungBoy Never Broke Again),” “What’s That?,” and “Devil’s Work Part 2.”   

Joyner’s last album ADHD, debuted in the Top-10 of the Billboard 200, earned RIAA gold certification, sparked a much-needed conversation about mental health and established a new template for success that independent artists could follow.    

33. Robert Finley – Black Bayou

Robert Finley releases his anticipated fourth studio album Black Bayou, an 11-track tour de force that coalesces gospel, blues, soul, and rock into a raw, thundering tribute to Finley’s home state of Louisiana. Telling tales of the bayou from childhood to now, the 69-year old Finley takes listeners on a journey that showcases his growly vocals, sultry falsetto and cements him as a living legend.

Watch Finley’s new music video for “Waste Of Time,” filmed at Easy Eye Studios and featuring appearances from The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney and Dan Auerbach. The video is a snapshot of the creation of the album, set to the gristly, crunchy, swaggering blues number from Black Bayou.

Black Bayou has already been heaped with praise from SPIN, The FADER, American Songwriter, UNCUT, Paste, MOJO, Brooklyn Vegan and a slew of other outlets, including The Bluegrass Situation who have hailed Finley as their Artist of the Month for November. Finley recently performed the new album on CBS Saturday Morning, giving a rousing performance of his singles “What Goes Around (Comes Around)” , “Sneakin’ Around”, and “Nobody Wants To Be Lonely.”

Finley recorded Black Bayou at Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound Studio in Nashville. It’s the fourth time the duo have worked together, although for this record they did things a little differently. Rather than write songs beforehand—as they did on 2017’s Goin’ Platinum and 2021’s Sharecropper’s Son—they conceived everything in the studio, with Auerbach leading a band of some of the finest players around: drummers Patrick Carney (The Black Keys) and Jeffrey Clemens (G. Love & Special Sauce), bassist Eric Deaton, and legendary Hill Country blues guitarist Kenny Brown along with vocalists Christy Johnson and LaQuindrelyn McMahon—who just happen to be Finley’s daughter and granddaughter. They worked quickly, devising their parts spontaneously and getting everything in one take.
