While most fans were confused, and a little upset, about BET banning Nicki Minaj’s latest video, “Stupid Hoe,” one person didn’t seem too surprised.

VIDEO: TOO HOT FOR TV! 12 Videos Banned From Television

First Born, was interviewed on True Magazine yesterday when he was asked about BET’s decision not to air the video.

DETAILS: Nicki Minaj’s “Stupid Hoe” Banned From BET

Born, who produced Nicki’s smash “Super Bass,” had some pretty benign comments:

“Honestly, you know, I know the people at BET—they keep it a pretty tight lane on what they want their viewers to see and hear. So, as far as that’s concerned, you know, I don’t really have anything to say as far as what they do.”

Even though he understood BET’s decision, he still felt like artists should have the right to do what they like.

“I feel like artist should also be able to say, and have the freedom to express what they need to express. At the same time, you know, it’s about a branding thing so I’m sure they know what they’re doing as far as their brand. And I know Nicki is going to continue to be the great artist that she is, and she is going to continue to push the envelope. I like to see artists stretch themselves. So we’ll see what happens in the future, but I know this is not the only video Nicki Minaj is going to do.”

Nicki loves being creative, so with creativity comes controversy. If she learned anything from working with Madonna, she’ll understand that bans boost sales!
