After 6 long months of resilience through protesting, the brave Occupy Wall Street protesters took over St. Patrick’s Day to celebrate their 6-month anniversary.

The Occupy Wall Street movements were founded to invoke a national conversation about a host of issues including financial inequality, predatory bank practices, Wall Street corruption, and money in politics.

One protestor identified as Tom Hagan spoke specifically to the issue of finance saying:

“Wall Street did some terrible things, especially Goldman Sachs, but all of them. Everyone from the banks to the rating agencies, they all knew they were doing wrong. … But they did it anyway. Because the money was too big.”

Yesterday protesters in support of the Occupy Wall Street movement gathered in the infamous Zuccotti Park to celebrate their 6 months of vigorous fighting. The gathering also came as a reminder to skeptics, that the movement is still standing strong, especially for protestor Brendan Burke who said:

“It’s just a reminder that we’re here. It’s an opportunity to remind Wall Street that we aren’t going anywhere.”

Protestors were able to stand aside a statue of George Washington on the Federal Hall National Memorial, where they began to chant “We are unstoppable.”

The movement is hoping to regain some momentum lost through the winter. They recognized yesterday’s march as “Spring Training” necessary to prepare them for warmer weather, in which protests are expected to increase again.

GlobalGrind is still rocking with the Occupy Wall Street movement as we wish them a happy 6-month anniversary.
