The walls of New York City serve as the canvas for Mint & Serf’s artwork.

From subway trains, to alleyways, rooftops and hundreds of cans of Krylon in between, the duo, commonly known by their mashup name of “The Mirf,” have dominated the street art scene.

STORY: Get To Know Some Real Life Savages

The Moscow and Brooklyn-born pair (respectively) transcended the lines of illegal graffiti art to mainstream gallery art and have since sold out galleries, a feat unknown to many graffiti artists.

Starting back in 2005 when the pair launched The Canal Chapter, followed by The Stanton Chapter in 2008, they have continued to dominate the gallery art scene with their vast range of artwork that ranges from murals to paintings and sculptures, without forgetting their graf art roots.

As graffiti art savages themselves, the duo knows a few things about savage activities and they were willing to teach us a thing or two about them when we caught up with the duo in their Canal street studio.

This Wednesday, to celebrate the launch of the new film Savages, GlobalGrind will feature custom artwork based on the Oliver Stone film from The Mirf. Mint & Serf will be on hand producing artwork inspired by the film.

The Savage-inspired piece will be unveiled on Wednesday, June 27 at The TriBeca Grand in NYC, and be sure to check out the trailer for Savages, which hits the big screen July 6th.

Check out the footage we got hanging out with Mint&Serf in the video below.
