A Harlem mother named Jackie Rowe-Adams already lost her two sons after they were murdered, and she now says the leader of the National Rifle Association lied to her face when he promised to help her combat street violence.

According to the New York Daily News:
NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre made the vow after Adams accepted a Daily News invitation to attend the annual meeting of the influential gun lobbying organization in April.
At the meeting in St. Louis, LaPierre said he would work with Rowe-Adams and her nonprofit group, Harlem Mothers S.A.V.E.
“I understand your pain . . . we will talk again,” he told the 64-year-old activist. “I thought he was sincere,” Rowe-Adams said, sitting in her storefront office on Frederick Douglass Blvd. “We exchanged contact information.”
But LaPierre and his staff have ignored repeated phone calls and two letters over the last several months begging the NRA to participate in a Harlem “peace walk” on Saturday, Rowe-Adams says.
When Rowe-Adams confronted LaPierre at the meeting in April, the two traded views on street violence. She asked the NRA bigwig to back gun micro-stamping legislation and he argued against stricter gun control.
LaPierre said that he wanted to stop it more than anyone, and told Adams that the best way to do that is to start enforcing the federal gun laws on the books.
Rowe-Adams said she won’t give up and vows:
“I’m going to keep calling and writing until I get an answer.”
It’s not surprising that someone from the NRA doesn’t care about the plight of mothers who’ve lost children to gun violence.
