It’s almost impossible to see someone in a set of gold teeth and not cue the beat to Paul Wall and Nelly’s “Grillz,” but the lifespan of the removable gold, silver or diamond teeth has seen a slight demise, leaving Lil Wayne and the likes alone on their side of the dental plan.
But as teeth got better and veneers saved the day, rappers and celebrities alike wanted to show off their pearly whites, with a touch of bling of course. The newest contenders to the grillz lifestyle aren’t the Ryan Lochtes, they’re the hottest in the game, and also some of the most fashionable women of the moment. Beyonce, Miley Cyrus and Rihanna have been bringing back the dental bling, but with a touch of feminine flair – as cliche as it may sound.
Interested in adding a little accessory to your smile? Take some style cues from these gems on how to keep the grillz a little girly with a lot less metal.
Miley has a multitude of grillz, but our favorite has to be what she calls her “chill grill.” It’s plain gold and connects to her canines with a thin gold bar across the top, leaving the bottom of her pearly whites exposed.
Beyonce is ageless, so it only makes sense that she would go for the vampy fangs. A rose gold finish with tiny handset diamonds make this a dainty additive to her already dazzling smile.
And leave it to Rihanna to introduce the unconventional. The songstress snapped this photo of a gold cross in between her teeth. Not quite fronts, but an alternative for a gal who is looking for a little less bling. You can get a more permanent look like Rihanna’s with an adhesive cross like this one.
