This Queens teenager has only committed one crime – being insanely fashionable!

Trayon Christian, a 19-year-old engineering student, has filed a lawsuit against the NYC Madison Avenue Barneys location and the NYPD for wrongfully accusing him of stealing a $320 Salvatore Ferragamo belt from the luxury department store in April.

The teen saved up his money and wanted to buy the belt after seeing his favorite rapper, Juelz Santana, sporting the expensive accessory. According to the Daily Mail, the teen paid for the belt with his debit card and was followed outside the store by police, who accused him of fraud.

According to the civil rights lawsuit, the 19-year-old was asked ‘how a young black man such as himself could afford to purchase such an expensive belt.’

The sales associate also asked to see Christian’s ID and receipt after the purchase and surprisingly, police still didn’t believe he bought the belt. He was later detained and kept in a holding cell for over 30 minutes. The student has returned the belt and vowed never to shop there again.

“I brought the belt back to Barneys a few days later and returned it. I got my money back, I’m not shopping there again. It’s cruel. It’s racist.”

Barneys should be absolutely ashamed.
