Somewhereinamerica, a sneakerhead is piling up their Nike boxes and building a shrine of appreciation to Riccardo Tisci. Ever since Nike broke a few hearts by indefinitely pushing the release of their collaborative sneakers with Kanye West, they have made it up by announcing their latest collaboration with Givenchy’s main man.
Nike reps confirmed a line dubbed Nike RT, (standing for Riccardo Tisci, for those of you who lost track) and the collabo, which will bear the logo Nike RT, will arrive in stores and on Nike.com this spring.
Riccardo talks about the importance of Nike in his personal life, telling Style.com:
“For me, Nike represents a lot: my childhood, America. In Europe, America is the flag, McDonald’s, Marlboro, and Nike, for a kid it’s very important. When I got the call, it sounded so strong, so perfect for my DNA. It’s a big honor for me, especially because they’re always working with sports people.”
As for what we should expect from the collection, Riccardo kept it mum when he said:
“It’s strong without being loud.”
