The national debt ceiling will be raised once again to avoid the U.S from falling into another recession. In the 221 to 201 vote, the limit will be raised to help the country pay the $17.2 trillion balance on time. Some House Republicans unwillingly approved of the bill that will keep the U.S on track until March 2015. The Senate will most likely give the final vote this week.  [Washington Post]

Attorney General Eric Holder wants ex-felons to have the right to vote again. In a speech at Georgetown University Law Center Tuesday, Holder believes the law is outdated, and sets the U.S back to civil war times. “At worst, these laws, with their disparate impact on minority communities, echo policies enacted during a deeply troubled period in America’s past – a time of post-Civil War discrimination,” Holder said. “And they have their roots in centuries-old conceptions of justice that were too often based on exclusion, animus and fear.” [MSNBC]

The move is another step forward for gun activists but there is one exception — gun owners cannot have a drink if they have their weapon on them and bars are allowed to enact their own policy. Bar owners are now required by law to place their stance on the new law in bar windows.  [Huffington Post]

Perpetuating rape culture much? [Think Progress]
