Actor Shia LaBeouf is in the spotlight again, and not for the right reasons.
The 28-year-old was arrested on Thursday for criminal trespassing and misconduct after causing a disruption at a New York City theater, according to police.
The former Transformers star was forcibly removed during a Broadway performance of Cabaret for allegedly smoking inside the theater, refusing to sit still, and annoying other theater-goers by slapping random people on the behind and in the back of the head.
According to Page Six, LaBeouf was also put in a police mask when he wouldn’t stop spitting.
As of shortly before 1 a.m. ET, LaBeouf, 28, had been processed and released, New York police officer Adam Navarro said.
A spokesman for the show says LaBeouf was “disruptive during act one” and was escorted out of the theater at intermission.
A passerby snapped this photo of the actor being escorted out of the theater with the caption: “Not a clear pic but Shia Labeouf is getting arrested by the back door of The David Letterman Show.”
The Ed Sullivan Theater, where Letterman’s show is taped, is just a few hundred feet from Studio 54, where Cabaret is being staged.
Police are investigating the disturbance.
