British singer FKA Twigs is being ridiculed for her romance with Robert Pattinson because of the color of her skin and because, ignorance.
The “Two Weeks” singer was spotted holding hands with the Twilight heartthrob during their recent trip to New York. They’ve apparently been dating for a while now, but the actor’s die-hard fans took to Twitter last week to let Twigs, real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett, know how they really feel.
This meant calling the talented and beautiful singer a “monkey,” “black ni**aaaaa,” and “boogeyman.”
Yeah, we don’t get it either.

@FKAtwigs I do not wish you badly but I hope that a train happens to you for this face of monkey that you have — UnBroKen (@RobstenMyHeart_) September 22, 2014
Many of the actor’s fans have showed respect for their relationship, but sadly, the negative tweets were powerful enough for Twigs to vent on Twitter:
I am genuinely shocked and disgusted at the amount of racism that has been infecting my account the past week.

Racism is unacceptable in the real world and it’s unacceptable online.

The critically acclaimed singer is mixed; her father is Jamaican and her mother is of both English and Spanish descent.
She recently talked about battling racism in an interview with Dazed & Confused, saying the taunts have only made her a stronger person.
“People said horrible things about something I had no control of, which was tough. But that’s okay. Life isn’t supposed to be easy, is it?” she told British magazine Dazed & Confused.
“I never really saw anything wrong with how I looked, it was more that certain people pointed things out to you about yourself.”
“Either your hair’s different, or the color of your skin, or your features. Half of my life I’ve had people staring at me because they think I’m funny-looking and ugly. The other half of my life I’ve had people staring at me because they think I’m fascinating. Everything neutralises. It’s more of a statement on society and how weird it is.”
Twigs manages to show strength while the haters continue to slam away at their keyboards. Pattinson is one lucky guy.
