The trial of the shooting of Aiyana Stanley-Jones by a Detroit police officer ended in a mistrial for the second time around.

The first trial had the same result back in June 2013 with a hung jury, and the Uncle of the late seven-year-old revealed his frustrations with the repeated outcome.

It was reported earlier this week that the charges against the officer had been dropped, and the court denied an emergency appeal.

He revealed to the press:

‘I don’t understand how we can go through this again and have all this evidence brought forth and there not be a verdict either way.’

‘I don’t think it’s fair because he’s a police officer that he gets to get away with this again. That’s wrong to me.’

Over the course of the trial, jury members revealed that there were a lot of emotions throughout, and that the verdict was split down the middle by the end.

They also stand by the theory that race never played a role in their deliberations, even though the officer is white, and Aiyana is black.

We pray for Aiyana’s family and hope that justice may be served.
