Protestors nationwide have been shutting down all kinds of streets, government buildings, and public places, and now the Mall Of America can be added to that list.

This weekend, thousandss of people gathered at the famous mall in Minneapolis, where they continuously chanted “Black lives matter!” and other positive statements in protest of the deaths of Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, and others at the hands of police.

Parts of the shopping complex were completely shut down due to the protestors, who sat on the floors of the mall during an important shopping day before the impending holidays.

Reports say that protestors held up their arms, chanting “Hands up, don’t shoot!” as they took on authorities peacefully.Twenty-five people were reportedly arrested, mainly for reasons such as trespassing, but there were no known injuries.

Mall representatives also released a statement on their disappointment in the protestors for ignoring the ban on political protests. It read:

‘It’s clear from their actions that these political activists were more concerned about making a political statement and creating a media event than they were about the safety of others, who came to Mall of America for an afternoon of shopping and family entertainment,’ the statement said.
