One of the slain NYPD officers, who was killed with his partner in a Brooklyn shooting this past week, was finally laid to rest yesterday.

Officer Rafael Ramos‘ wake was held in Queens, NY, with thousands in attendance, including many NYPD officers – even some from around the country.

According to Yahoo! News, the wake for Ramos was 8 hours long, and Mayor Bill De Blasio did attend the ceremony briefly, despite many officers of the department criticizing his presence.

The slain officer’s casket was draped in a flag and carried by his colleagues. Many were said to have gathered outside, where they watched the services from a giant television screen.

His son spoke at the wake, saying of his heroic father:

“Dad, I’m forever grateful of the sacrifices you made to provide for me and Jaden.”

The funeral for Ramos is set for today, with the Mayor saying that he will attend, but the funeral for partner Officer Wenjian Liu has not been scheduled yet according to reports.

We pray for the families of officers Ramos and Liu, and may they rest in peace.

The funeral is currently being live-streamed on Youtube. Vice President Joe Biden is in attendance, as requested by the President, and he is scheduled to speak, along with Mayor De Blasio, Ramos’ pastor, Governor Andrew Cuomo, and Bill Bratton. Watch the live stream below.
