The stoner holiday – April 20 – is here and more and more states are taking the steps to make marijuana legal.

In past years, its benefits have been discussed between lawmakers, while the decriminalization has left police officials perplexed.

Since the Controlled Substances Act of 1970, marijuana was listed as a Schedule I drug, making it illegal to sell, use, or distribute. Its two components, cannabidiol and tetrahydrocannabinol — better known as CBD and THC — later proved to help reduce pain in patients facing cancer, epilepsy, and other neurologic disorders, sparking interest in the drug all over the country.

With over 25 states implementing legal medicinal marijuana use and four states passing retail usage, the power of one tiny plant has managed to leave the country seemingly divided.

So where does this leave the regular pot user? Well, depending on your location, you’re in a good position to partake in the festivities of 4/20 legally. Here are some interesting facts about the places you can light up and just how much money is involved in the drug.
