A woman made one of the smartest quick-thinking decisions ever when her and her family were taken into a hostage situation, with the help of Pizza Hut.

Florida woman Cheryl Treadway was held hostage by her boyfriend Ethan Nickerson this past Monday, who demanded he go with her to pick up her three children from school.

According to a release from the police department, Treadway was forced to give up her cell phone for the pick-up, but when they arrived back to the house, she convinced him to let her order a pizza from Pizza Hut.

The site reports that she put hostage instructions in the online order form from her phone. Mashable states:

After the two returned to Treadway’s home with the children, she was able to convince Nickerson to let her use her phone and place an online pizza order at their local Pizza Hut in Avon Park. Treadway included the message “Please help. Get 911 to me,” in the section for her delivery instructions, as well the message “911hostage help!”

Chef Alonia Hawk spotted the message on the order. “I was kinda scared,” she told WTSP. Adding “I was scared for the person.”

Candy Hamilton, the manager of the Pizza Hut recognized the address as a frequent customer, and called 911.

Hostage negotiator Lt. Curtis Ludden from the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene first and as he pulled his cruiser up to the home, Treadway exited the house carrying one of her children. Unfortunately, two of her children were still inside the house with their father, who was apparently high on narcotics.

Treadway’s boyfriend was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a weapon without intent to kill, battery, false imprisonment and obstructing justice by depriving communication to law enforcement.
