A perfect concert usually ends on a high note. Last night’s annual Power 105 Powerhouse concert at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn was not a perfect concert. The show ended with Kendrick Lamar performing in front of a half full arena – more on that later.

Even though they didn’t nail the landing, Powerhouse was still a good time for the thousands in attendance.

The show — which started promptly at 7:00 p.m. — featured all the regular NYC radio favorites, like opener Jidenna, Omarion, Jeremih, Meek Mill, Fetty Wap and Future.

But last night, the middle portion was where all the fun happened. Fetty Wap, Meek Mill—with special guests Rick Ross, A$AP Ferg and DJ KhaledBig Sean, and Future performed back to back.

Fetty Wap, who hasn’t hit the stage since his unfortunate motorcycle accident, had the audience going nuts. He came out on a movable throne, performing radio jams like “My Way,” “FGB Island,” “679,” and of course, “Trap Queen.” After his performance, Fetty’s Remy Boyz crew helped him up and he was able to take a bow for an appreciative crowd.

Most of the performers at Powerhouse had about 15 to 35 minutes to rock their set. The one exception was Meek Mill, and later Rick Ross, who basically gave fans a full set. Meek has gotten a lot of heat on the Internet over the last couple of months.

That hate isn’t seen in the real world, however, as Meek ran through his hits to a mostly rowdy audience. The highlight of any Meek concert is the ending: during which he performs his Dreams and Nightmares Intro. Meek played the moment up dramatically, as the lights went off and the rapper asked fans to hold up their phones.

Detroit rapper Big Sean definitely had the most lavish set-up of the night. Sean, surrounded by TVs and lights, had a short but strong set, which mostly focused on songs from his Dark Sky Paradise album.

Future has easily been the rapper of 2015. And you could tell he was the artist fans were anticipating the most. There were some mishaps during his set, however: Future came out to the wrong song, “Never Gon Lose,” which was off his 56 Nights tape; he took too long to start performing Dirty Sprite 2 songs, had some mic issues throughout, and then there was the awkward moment where he brought out Uncle Murda to perform the underground track, “Right Now.“

It was after midnight when Future wrapped up his set. Kendrick Lamar was left. It didn’t matter, as thousands of people poured out of the arena, deciding to skip out on Kendrick’s set. The ones who stayed took in a Kendrick performance that was lively, but not particularly exciting. K.Dot performed a bunch of joints from his debut album good kid, m.A.A.d city. Perhaps he knew that those songs work better in front of a crowd like this. Songs from To Pimp A Butterfly, his great sophomore album, sound better in a smaller, more intimate venue.

It was clear that the powers that be were trying to get Kendrick to wrap up his show. Kendrick refused. Instead he closed the show with the inspirational To Pimp A Butterfly track “Alright,” ending a night that was far from perfect. But hey, it was alright.
