Apple’s been trying to make the iPhone thinner since its inception in 2007, but its latest solution won’t be received well.

According to Apple Blog 9to5 Mac, the Cupertino-based company may remove the headphone jack in an effort to make the phone even skinnier. The report also claims that the iPhone 7 will push Apple’s Lightning port as the new standard for all headphones. The change isn’t a complete surprise, as Apple introduced audio-via-Lightning support in iOS, and many companies began to offer supporting headphones, though the site reports “very few actual Lightning headphones have been shown or shipped.”

The report isn’t completely final, but the 9to5 blog has an amazing track record and is known for being one of Apple’s biggest pests- they usually leak product details months in advance. While some people would welcome a thinner and lighter phone, many wouldn’t mind a bit more thickness and weight if it meant an extremely reliable battery.

Now it’s only a matter of time before the same thing happens to the Macbook. Say hello to carrying an adapter for all the headphones scattered in your car, office, and kitchen junk drawer.
