Lupe Fiasco tried to tell us seven years ago that hip-hop saves lives, but Lamar Odom is proof.

While most of America was tuned into Game of Thrones on Sunday, some of us were watching E!’s Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Sunday’s episode explored Lamar Odom‘s stroke and recovery, as well as Kanye’s role in helping Lamar heal.

In the episode, Kim and Khloe recalled a conversation they had with the former NBA player.

There was a moment when Lamar couldn’t really express himself and he couldn’t really talk, but he could hear what we were saying to him,” Kim said. “Kanye really felt we can cure him through music, like we can get him to talk. He would go to the hospital and he would rap and sing, and I think Lamar started to get his function back and started to talk once he started to listen to a lot of music.”

Khloe confirmed Kim’s sentiments by adding, “”He’s always like that. He’s like, ‘Kanye saved me.'”

Lamar also said, “Kanye’s music helped me so much. That’s when I realized I could start thinking again and things were coming back to me and I could start articulating it.”

Khloe’s ex made his first public appearance at his brother-in-law’s Yeezy Season 3 fashion show back in February. Lamar also attended Kobe’s final game a few weeks back. Considering Lamar was on his death-bed six months ago, he seems to be doing great. We hope he keeps it up.
