The first “money blog” focused on how  practicing with principals of unconditional giving is a catalyst to a happy attractive persona.  It reminded us that all scriptures teach that “good givers are great getters”. It said that those who give are more attractive and ultimately more successful then those who trade for happiness.  But a key to achieving this free abundant state of consciousness is a still mind. The ability to focus on the work and not the results is the fruit from an anxiety-free mind.

The great Maharishi yogi has a revealing, insightful quote that says it all, “When the mind is still the whole universe surrenders.”  There are many practices to calm the mind but none are more proven then a good meditation practice. One must remember when considering meditation as a practice is this: there can be no happiness, creativity or lasting well-being without those precious seconds of stillness or absorption. So, I recommend you lengthen those seconds of absorption by meditating.

Here’s a simple “starter kit” guide to meditation:

1. Find a comfortable seat that you can maintain without fidgeting.

2. Set alarm for 20 minutes

3. Sing, chant and repeat the mass mantra, “Rum.” Say it fast, slow, quiet or loud…

4. Finally, sit silently and repeat your mantra “Rum” over and over again (in your head) and be patient.

When meditating, think the Mantra don’t “repeat it out loud.” Gentley fasten your attention to it and think it “chant it in your head” not out loud.

Your mind is like a monkey in a cage. It will bounce around in your head until it realizes you will not move.

When it is tired, it will have no choice but to sit. You will likely lose your mantra from time to time, that’s normal. Gently come back to mantra when your ready. When you find yourself wrapped in a thought, think it through and the “gently” come back to your mantra. If you want to scratch, scratch. If you would to adjust your seat, adjust your seat. There will a moment when it takes too much energy to move. Now you’re meditating. Repeat the mantra and relax.

The # 1 ingredient you need to meditate is patience. Be patient and stillness will set in. It has no choice!

Relax.

Stillness, like money, is inevitable, it will come.
